Who Supplies Water in Jersey Village

City of Jersey Village

Supplied its residents from a network of city-owned groundwater wells prior to October 2000. The city now contracts with the City of Houston for treated surface water, with deep wells in the Evangeline and Chicot aquifers still supplying part of the total.

West Harris County Regional Water Authority

Created by the Texas legislature in 2001 to cut groundwater use across western Harris County. Since 2010 the City of Houston surface-water supply point has been the Jersey Village Pump Station on Fairview Street north of FM 529.

Permitting

This area falls under the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District. A well with a casing diameter of less than five inches that serves only a single-family dwelling is exempt from HGSD permit requirements — which covers most residential wells.
